It suffers a bit in sand with it's wider lug spacing but makes up for it through the rocks, mud, dirt and even hard pack.The tire is very durable, I've had not flats since installing it and have taken it over some pretty rough terrain. As with any aggressively treaded tire there is significant wear when riding on pavement but this is to be expected.
