Michelin City Tire with Protek Plus and Reflective Sidewalls (Black, 700x32c) Reviews
22 of 23 people found the following review helpful Pretty good tire, By John Public (Michigan) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Michelin City Mountain Bike Tire with Protek (Sports) It's a heavy tire but rolls quite fast on hard pavement. VERY poor choice for anything loose. gravel, dirt, etc. Performs very well under total bike/equipment/rider weight of about 270 pounds. No worries about pinch flats whatsoever.Bought this for touring, on the rear wheel. Have a lot of weight over the rear wheel, and transfer a lot of power through that wheel. Rear tire wears about 3-4 times faster than front and it's a pain in the butt to fix flats (disc brakes plus panniers). This tire looks like a very good choice but running lighter tire in front. UPDATE: May 2011. I finally removed this tire last week. It handled an 1800 mile cross country tour with a total of almost 300 pounds, heavily biased to be over this wheel. NO flats during the ride. In fact no flats since putting it on, other than a thumb tack that got embedded in it last year. The tire lasted a ridiculously long time too. I got nearly 6,000 miles out of it. No tire I have ever used... Read more 11 of 11 people found the following review helpful excellent commuter, By This review is from: Michelin City Mountain Bike Tire with Protek (Misc.) I have these in a 47c on my 29er and in 28c on my single speed. The 47's have about 1500 miles of pavement, dirt, and gravel commuting on them with exactly zero flats using the generic brand tubes that came with the bike. I live in goathead country, so this is quite impressive. 11 of 11 people found the following review helpful Commuter Tires... So far so good., By RoadBikePete (Los Angeles) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Michelin City Mountain Bike Tire with Protek (Misc.) These tires replace my original Specialized Nimbus (reflector sidewall) tires. The Michelins are a bit lighter, should only be inflated to 73psi, but they seem to be a very good tire so far. Smoother ride, they look good and roll fast. These, were mounted with new Bontrager tubes on Alex and Sun rims. Tires have so far dealt with LA streets, road cracks, bumps, debris without a problem. Tires mounted easily on my rims.Strange thing about Amazon Shipping. Tires ordered and shipped easily. However, they came in separate large boxes. Michelin tire web site is the place you should research to know what tire is best for you.... then check back on Amazon or another web retailer to find exactly what you want. Take particular notice of size availability. I use a 700x38C and this was available in my size. I run a Specialized Globe IG8, with rear rack/pack on a 17 mile round trip commute. I recommend these tires so far. I will amend this review if I... Read more |
