Continental Tour Ride Urban Bicycle Tire (700x28) Reviews
11 of 11 people found the following review helpful "Tour Ride" is the perfect name, great tire!, By Amazon Verified Purchase After my bike was stolen (I left it along side my garage overnight), I got a new one. The new bike had huge knobby tires, not the best for the work commutes I mostly use the bike for. I spent about $8.50 per tire on my last set of mountain bike street tires. Let me just say that paying more than twice as much for these Continentals definitely gave me more than twice as good a tire. Continental makes some highly rated performance tires for cars. It was no surprise to me that these tires have great grip and ride quality, even when pumped to higher pressure levels.Another reason I bought these particular tires: I wanted a smooth rolling street tire with tread that could cope off the pavement as well, and the Tour Rides are perfect! (Of course, when I take the bike out into the woods, the knobbys go back on.) The anti-puncture material is another good feature. I've had them about 2 months and, considering all the small, sharp debris lying on roadside pavement and at... So I installed a pair of TourRide "700c" tires. I was most impressed by the "Puncture ProTection" rating and I've been generally pleased with previous Continental tires. The tires were labeled "28 1-1/4 x 1-3/4," but because of the general uselessness of bicycle tire naming convention, you should use the ISO name and ignore everything else on the label. You may be better off just reading the specs directly off the tire and comparing with a sizing chart. In my case, the ISO name is 622x32mm. The more common name is 700c x 32. Changing from slick tires to treaded tires such as these takes a bit of getting used to. The raised treads seem to have the tendency to amplify the unevenness of the riding surface. These tires in particular have a habit of shifting along the normal cracks and bumps of an asphalt roadway. Even thickly painted lines... They've been great tires and are much easier to get on and off than the Marathons I was using. |
